It's not news per se, but apparently religions tend to be homophobic.
Suffice to say Sir Elton John is quite right.
Though 'banning' them may be a bit unrealistic!
The Spine thinks that this will upset all sorts of religious types, but I have to take issue with his inclusion of Hindus. I have yet to meet a fundamentalist Hindu, so this may be off the mark, but all the Hindus I know are pretty reasonable about this and other issues which confuse our favourite Christian and Islamic groups.
