Surgery

Debbie and I had our surgery this evening. And it was great fun.

I won the election last year not because, as is normally the case, I got more votes than anyone else, but because no-one stood against me. I know there are Labour voters in my ward — I canvassed a few Labour supporters and at least one Liberal Democrat supporter. But it is fair to say that none of them were sufficiently motivated to impose a socialist agenda because otherwise they would have stood for election.

So it is not complacent to expect mostly friendly people to come to our first ever surgery. It was fun then!

I have learnt a couple of things though:
  1. The advertisement for the surgery should be more prominent one the leaflet
  2. It should be advertised in other places than just the leaflet
It's all a learning exercise and I'm really enjoying learning these things.
