Games for Windows

I am limiting myself to two posts today. First is my discovery of Games for Windows.

It is a project by Microsoft to make the PC as easy to play games on as games consoles. The PC has for far too long required geeky experience to do all sorts of things, but games were often the greatest culprit.

Now Windows Vista, Direct X 10 and Games for Windows ensure that games must just work. They must work with the XBox 360 controller (using Xbox 360 Crossfire - Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows) and they must install themselves in Vista's new Games explorer.

The Games Explorer also tells users using a simple scoring system, whether their PC is capable of running a game. My PC scores 5 (the processor being the weakest link), in case you're interested.
