Castille (Spain) and Catalonia

I am disgusted by what I have seen in today's news from Catalonia. The violence perpetrated by a supposedly democratic and free country against it's people is truly shocking. The EU, and all its member countries should not stand by and allow this to happen and, if they do, the EU especially has lost all credibility as a protector of the social liberal democratic system:
